Hiding Server 2008 R2 Favourites and Libraries in Windows Explorer

Server 2008 R2 does not provide a gpo to do this but you can modify registry key to hide them. You can do this via Preferences in gpo but you need to allow the Administrators to have full control of the ShellFolder keys on the server before it will run.

Please backup your registry prior to making edits as mistakes can cause you machine to stop working.

Favorites, the key is: 


Change the Attributes value from a0900100 to a9400100 will hide Favorites from Navigation Pane.

For Libraries, the key is:


Change the Attributes value from b080010d to b090010d will hide Libraries from Navigation Pane.

How to remove Korean, Japanese and Chinese keyboards from the keyboard list

(Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall Windows, please make a backup of the registry prior to editing)

Open the Windows Registry, regedit

Navigate to the following key:


Look for these three items:

"c:/program files/common files/microsoft/imei14/shared/imeklmg.exe /uninstall /CHS /log"

"c:/program files/common files/microsoft/imei14/shared/imeklmg.exe /uninstall /JPN /log"

"c:/program files/common files/microsoft/imei14/shared/imeklmg.exe /uninstall /KOR /log"

Delete all of them.

You may also find the same items under:


If so, delete these as well.

Restart your computer
